“The Upskill Gambit - Discover the 5 Keys to Your Career and Income Security in the Digital Age” (new Amazon book (Audible) (Kindle)

Friends, if you want to discover the five keys to enduring career and earnings success then The Upskilling Gambit is for you (Audible) (Kindle). Join us for a journey that will transform your professional growth and unlock new opportunities for you and your organization. The global workforce - with an estimated 1 billion Knowledge Workers - has undergone a remarkable transformation from the Industrial Age to the Information Age and now entered the contemporary Digital Age. This transformation has been largely driven by technological advancements and economic cycles. In the Industrial Age the workforce was primarily characterized by manual labor, with individuals working in factories and other manufacturing facilities. Specialization and repetitive tasks were the norm, with limited opportunities for intellectual engagement or skill development. The Information Age also brought about a shift towards knowledge-based work, as industries began to rely on information processing and communication infrastructure. This led to the rise of white-collar jobs and a growing demand for skills in computing, data analysis and first generation robotics.

Thesis: A generational opportunity awaits all Knowledge Workers who focus on “Upskilling” their talents - across all industries, functional disciplines and geographic regions - in the new digital economy. Given the vast focus on job displacement due to technology innovation and business process improvement - in the near term - the upside growth potential in the medium-long term far outweighs the downside risk for all who invest in “Upskilling”.

Python Data Structures (training)

Dev colleagues, join over 1 million students who have enrolled in the popular “Python Data Structures” training program. Learn to explain the principles of data structures & how they are used, create programs that are able to read and write data from files, store data as key/value pairs using Python dictionaries and accomplish multi-step tasks like sorting or looping using tuples. Gain high-demand skills including Python Syntax And Semantics, Data Structures, Tuples and Python Programming. This course will introduce the core data structures of the Python programming language. We will move past the basics of procedural programming and explore how we can use the Python built-in data structures such as lists, dictionaries, and tuples to perform increasingly complex data analysis. Training modules address: 1) Python Strings - install Python if you want to actually run the applications on your desktop or laptop. If you choose not to install Python, you can just skip to the third week and get a head start, 2)  Installing and Using Python - write and test Python programs in the browser using the "Python Code Playground" in this lesson, 3) Files - write your first programs that read, scan, and process real data, 3) Lists - store many values in a single variable using an indexing scheme to store, organize, and retrieve different values from within a single variable. We call these multi-valued variables "collections" or "data structures", 4) Dictionaries - the Python dictionary is one of its most powerful data structures. Instead of representing values in a linear list, dictionaries store data as key / value pairs. Using key / value pairs gives us a simple in-memory "database" in a single Python variable, and 5) Tuples - simple version of lists. We often use tuples in conjunction with dictionaries to accomplish multi-step tasks like sorting or looping through all of the data in a dictionary.

React (Nanodegree Program)

Dev colleagues, in the “React Nanodegree Program you will master this powerful UI library, and learn career-ready skills. Learn how to build declarative user interfaces for the web with React, and for iOS and Android with React Native. You'll also learn how to manage state more predictably in your applications with Redux. Skill-based lessons include: 1) React Fundamentals - learn fundamental React concepts and create interactive React components for web applications using JSX to render UI, manage state, and handle lifecycle events, 2) Why React? - learn why React was built and the functional JavaScript concepts you'll use in React, 3) Rendering UI with React - build reusable React components and you'll use JSX to create user interface elements, 4) State Management - manage state in React applications with props, useState, and controlled components, 5) Hooks - learn how hooks enable state and lifecycle in React components, 6) Routing - routing in React single-page applications using React Router, 7) MyReads: A Book Tracking App - create a web application that allows you to select and categorize books you have read, are currently reading, or want to read, 8) React and Redux - learn about Redux and the Redux ecosystem as a powerful tool to help you accomplish this. You will also learn how to use advanced testing techniques using JEST, 8) Managing State - learn techniques to make your state more predictable by moving your state to a central location and establishing strict rules for getting, listening, and updating that state, 9) UI plus Redux - move away from having state live in the DOM by creating a vanilla JavaScript application whose state is managed entirely by Redux, 10) Redux Middleware - create custom middleware and add it to your Redux store. This middleware will allow you to enhance your store by hooking into and intercepting actions before they reach any reducers, 11) Redux with React - add React to a Redux application and have the state of that application be managed by Redux, 12) Asynchronous Redux - abstract asynchronous events by creating your own custom Thunk middleware and adding it to your store, 13) React-Redux Bindings - leverage the react-redux bindings in order to leverage the benefits of a UI library like React and a state management library like Redux, 14) Implementing React plus Redux - build a real-world Redux application. You’ll also learn advanced Redux topics like reducer composition and normalization, 15) Testing with Jest - install and run JEST using synch and async functions, use snapshots, and perform DOM tests with React Testing Library, and 16) Project: Employee Polls Web App: HR needs a web app to create polls for employees to post and respond to scenario questions. Employees vote on responses and the dashboard lists employees by the number of polls created and answered.

Skill-based lessons include: 1) SQL and Data Modeling for the Web - traverse the stack and develop an entire database-backed web application. By the end of the course, you'll have the fundamentals you need to start building web applications, including how to do Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) operations on a database, how to apply these operations across both databases and web applications, how to set up relationships between elements of an application, and ultimately how to think about important principles and patterns in building data models for a web application, 2) Interacting with Databases Interact with relational databases. Review SQL and the Client-Server Model. Use Postgres, understand DBAPIs, and use psycopg2, 3) SQLAlchemy Basics - use SQLAlchemy and SQLAlchemy ORM to work with a relational database in Python, 4) Migrations, 5) Build a CRUD App with SQLAlchemy, 6) Project: Fyyur - demonstrate your new SQL and data modeling skills by creating a site to help coordinate bookings between artists and venues, 6) Project: API Development and Documentation - you will use the skills you’ve developed to build a Trivia API. The goal of this project is to use APIs to control and manage a web application using existing data models. You’ll be given a set of data models and the application front end. Your task will be to implement the API in Flask to make the, 7) Introduction to APIs - Internet Protocols and REST, 8) HTTP and Flask Basics - learn about HTTP—including methods, requests, responses and status codes— as well as how to set up a Flask app, and implement and test endpoints using Curl, and 8) Endpoints and Payloads - learn how Flask is extensible in itself to handle different kinds of methods, more complex endpoints, and to return formatted data to the client.
